Level 1 EV Charger

Electric vehicles typically include a Level 1 charger and those can plug directly into a standard 120 volt outlet. This is the outlet you are used to seeing all-around your house. Level 1 chargers can be convenient since you don’t need to do any additional electrical work to charge your car. You might just need to find an extension cord to be able to reach your car and wouldn’t require the support of an electrician.

However, Level 1 chargers are slow. It could take 24 hours to fully charge an empty EV battery. So, we recommend electric car or plug-in hybrid owners to upgrade to a Level 2 charger.

Level 2 EV Charger

If you’re looking for one of those fancy chargers that your friend has in their garage, you’re thinking about a Level 2. These chargers require a 240 volt AC plug, which isn’t your common household outlet. Level 2 EV chargers typically do not come with the vehicle so you need to purchase one as well.

Once you purchase a charger, Wire Craft can provide the electrical expertise to make sure your Level 2 charger works. With this charger, your EV should be fully charged in 8 hours or less. Give us a call today for an estimate!
